​Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer announced his retirement from competitive tennis on September 15, 2022. He will retire after the Laver Cup 2022 in London, which is taking place between September 23 and 26.

​Here are some of his greatest achievements that you must know about.

​1. Grand slams record

​In his two-decade-long (approx.) career, he has won 20 Grand Slam championship titles.

​2. Wimbledon titles

​The Swiss maestro has earned eight men's singles Wimbledon titles, apart from record-typing five US Open titles.

​3. A fan favourite

​Roger has won the Association of Tennis Professionals 'fan favourite' player title for 17 years consecutively.

​4. Great opponents

​He has played with the who's who of international tennis including Rafael Nadal, Djokovic, Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, and Andy Roddick.

​5. Player of the year

​The tennis pro has won the title of ATP Player of the Year five times, Laureus World Sportsman of the Year five times, and BBC Overseas Sports Personality of the Year four times.

​6. World champion

​In 2004, Roger was ranked ATP world no. 1. He was 36 years old then, and was the oldest player to earn that rank. He stayed at that rank for 310 weeks.
