Irish actor Cillian Murphy received the Best Actor Award for his marvellous performance in Christopher Nolan's movie, 'Oppenheimer'. The stunning actor beat Bradley Cooper for 'Maestro', Paul Giamatti for 'The Holdovers', Barry Keoghan for 'Saltburn,' and Teo Yoo for 'Past Lives' to take home the prize.
Director Jonathan Glazer's 'The Zone Of Interest' took home three awards for best sound, outstanding British film – and best film not in the English language. The UK Polish drama is about the Auschwitz concentration camp. The film was inspired by 2014 novel by Martin Amis.
Cord Jefferson beat the writers of 'Oppenheimer', 'All Of Us Strangers', 'Poor Things' and 'The Zone Of Interest', for his work on 'American Fiction'. The story is about a frustrated novelist essayed by Jeffrey Wright who writes satire of "black books"- which is mistaken by snobs to be work of serious literature.
For 'The Holdovers', Oscar nominee Da’Vine Joy Randolph won the Best Supporting Actress Award. She essayed the role of Mary Lamb in 'The Holdovers' which was a character which made one look beyond their differences and how empathy could take one places.
Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr took home the BAFTA award for best supporting actor role in 'Oppenheimer'. The actor was contending against Robert De Niro for 'Killers of the Flower Moon,' Jacob Elordi for 'Saltburn,' Ryan Gosling for 'Barbie,' to name a few.
Director Christopher Nolan won his first Bafta Award as the director for the man behind the atomic bomb creator. The movie clinched a total of seven BAFTA awards.
