Anushka Sharma will play Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami in latter's upcoming biopic, ‘Chakda Xpress’. It is inspired by the journey of the most famous Indian fast bowler.
Talking about the film, Anushka wrote, “It will be an eye-opener into the world of women’s cricket...This film is a dramatic retelling of several instances that shaped Jhulan's life and also women’s cricket.”
Taapsee will play Mithali Raj, former captain of the Indian women's national cricket team, in her official biopic, Shabaash Mithu.
Talking about the film, she wrote, “There is nothing more powerful than a girl with a dream and a plan to realise it! This is a story of one such girl who chased her dream with a bat in this Gentleman’s Game ‘Shabaash Mithu The Unheard Story Of Women In Blue’ (sic).”
In Karan Johar’s ‘Mr And Mrs Mahi’, Janhvi will be seen opposite Rajkummar Rao and will play the character of an aspiring cricketer. Whether the film has any relevance to Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s life or not, it has not been revealed yet.
Saiyami will be seen in R Balki's next ‘Ghoomer’ as a cricketer. The film also stars Abhishek Bachchan who will play the character of her coach.
Elaborating on her role, Saiyami wrote, “All my life, I've dreamt of living the life of a professional cricketer. ‘Ghoomer’ gave me that opportunity... A project that let me play one of the most challenging roles I've played thus far; both emotionally and physically.”
Nishtha Shailajan and Dhaval Shah directed sports drama ‘Spike’ will feature Dugal as a volleyball coach. Given her impeccable acting skills, we are quite excited for this one.
