In April 2022, Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi announced that she, along with producer Ronnie Screvwala, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Nitesh Tiwari, and director Piyush Gupta, is working on a biopic of acclaimed cookbook author and TV personality Tarla Dalal.
Padma Shri awardee Tarla Dalal died of a heart attack at the age of 77 on November 6, 2013. And this film is an ode to the legend and her contribution to the field of cooking.
This exciting news was announced with the first look of 'Tarla' featuring Huma as the lead. The resemblance was uncanny.
Over a year later, on May 22, 2023, the makers and Huma unveiled the teaser and shared that the film will release on Zee5 in September 2023.
Watch the clip and you will notice that even though the teaser is based on Tarla's life, which revolved around all things culinary, her love for food isn't in the spotlight.
The focus instead is on an early stage of her life, back when the late cookbook author was aspiring to make it big in life, but was unclear about where her passion lies.
You also get a glimpse of the celebrity chef's family life and where she comes from.
It also briefly shows Tarla's transformation from an amateur cook to a professional one.
