Iman Vellani plays Kamala Khan, a nerdy teenager obsessed with Captain Marvel. Her superhero fantasies come true when she herself turns into Ms Marvel. But how? Let’s find out
The first appearance of Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old Pakistani-American from Jersey City was in Marvel Comics in 2013.
Khan eventually headlined her own comic book as Ms Marvel in 2014. She was also the first Muslim superhero in a Marvel Comic.
Ms Marvel appeared in several animated series between 2016 and 2019, such as ‘Marvel Rising’, ‘Spider-Man’, ‘Avengers Assemble’ and even in the 2020-video game, Marvel’s Avengers.
The live action television series tracks the journey of Kamala who turns into a superhero after wearing her grandmother’s mysterious bracelet.
Kamala wears the bracelet to an AvengerCon costume competition where she finds out the cosmic powers of the bracelet.
Kamala along with her friend Bruno comes up with a plan to harness the powers of the bracelet and starts her superhero training. She also meets Kamran who plays an important role in her journey.
Iman Vellani captures the spirit of a noob superhero with ease. She goofs up, saves lives, but is scared of her mom and also suffers from guilt.
