8 New Restaurants And Food Deliveries In Mumbai This September

Mumbaikars, from all-day brunch to vegan cafes, check out the hottest new openings in town.

After months of uncertainties, delays and financial crunches, Mumbai’s dine-in and delivery scene are coming back to life. New restaurants, bars, cloud kitchens, and cafés are now opening almost every week in the city, and it’s hard to keep track.

1. Blah! 

If a lavish brunch with mimosas and chitchat is what you seek, this newly launched all-day brunch café and bar, Blah!,must top your list. While the place is named Blah!, the menu and ambience (totally lit, literally) is anything but that. Here you’ll find an artisanal cocktail bar that functions on the philosophy of ‘pluck to cup’, and for which the folks at the café and bar have built a stunning mini hydroponic garden. The menu is a combination of brunch classics like pancakes and eggs, to pan-Asian and continental dishes like dimsum and pizzas.

2. Dirty Martini

Perfect for an exciting evening out, Dirty Martini is the newest cocktail bar to open in the posh neighbourhood of Bandra. It offers a selection of over 20 martinis and 50 shooters, in addition to a variety of other cocktails, and has some of the most expensive cocktails in the city, namely, the Seven Deadly Sins, Tequila vs Wasabi and Pickleback. This resto-bar’s food menu is helmed by chef Makarand Samant and it blends continental dishes with desi ingredients.

3. Café at The Origin

The Origin, a store that specialises in thoughtfully sourced artisanal food products like honey, cheese, spices, and more, from across India and abroad, recently opened its doors in Khar, and shows promise a bunch of unique gourmet experiences to its customers. Introduced by the Bawa Group of Hotels and Anusaya Future Fresh, this 3-storey store also has a vegan café in its premises that serves a range of dishes that blend Indian and continental ingredients and recipes. Avocado sev puri, edible flower chaat, mock meat Ceaser salad, and pink grapefruit and edamame salad are a few of the delicious dishes on the menu.

4. Copper Chimney

To celebrate 49 successful years in the food biz, Copper Chimney launched an outpost in Mumbai’s Juhu area. The international restaurant chain is known for its range of north Indian delicacies like slow-cooked dals, kebabs, curries, biryanis and their most famous kadak roomali roti with onion-tomato kachumber. The restaurant boasts of a well-stocked bar and has an open-air terrace banquet area for hosting intimate gatherings and events.

5. Seeds of Life

This month, Juhu became home to the Seeds of Life’s second outlet in the city. Touted as a ‘green café’, this eatery promotes a conscious, nutritious approach towards food. The menu is gluten-free and vegan, and customers can choose from a variety of smoothie bowl, sandwich, burger, and soup.

6. Dilli Accent

Soya chaap lovers unite! This vegetarian delivery kitchen by chef Semil Rambhiya brings to you a range of traditional north Indian dishes with special focus on the vegetarian mock meat - soya chaap. They have soya chaap tikkas, curries, rolls and even biryani in the menu. For those who love their good ol’ paneer, potato, and mushroom, they got them covered too, from appetisers to main course! Dilli Accent has a few vegan options on the menu too.

7. Yeti – The Himalayan Kitchen

Bringing one of Delhi’s best momos to Mumbai are the two clouds kitchens launched by the captial’s award-winning restaurant Yeti – The Himalayan Kitchen. These kitchens promise to offer authentic, home-style Himalayan food – delicacies from Tibet to Meghalaya, and much more. Think Nepali Bhutun (goat maws stir-fried with special spices), Tibetian Cheley (boiled or fried buff cooked with vegetables and spices), Thenthuk (a type of Thukpa made using hand-made noodle soup), and a variety of momos like Yethi Kothe, Newari, Yomari and Shabalay. Yeti’s USP in Mumbai is also that they use 100 per cent biodegradable packaging.

8. Gourmet To Go

South Mumbai got a one-of-its-kind takeaway convenience store and takeaway café this month. Located on Peddar Road, this space founded by entrepreneur Priyal Shah has a gourmet snacks and ready meals. From the café, you can pick up bowls of Indian and Asian delicacies, and a bunch of appetisers, freshly brewed coffee, beverages, and desserts. The café caters to everyone from vegans to vegetarians and Jains. Soon, they are planning to also launch an e-commerce app that from where you’ll be able to order all the products and meals Gourmet To Go has to offer.
