13 Wedding Guest Outfits You Can Wear This Season

If you are wedding hopping this season, here is the perfect style guide that you must check out.

The big fat Indian wedding season is back, and so is the time to amp up your glam wedding guest outfit quotient if you are wedding hopping.

It’s time to set your wardrobe in order, after all, the bride and groom should not be the only ones going all out for their big day, right? Especially if you are a bridesmaid, you need to look stunning yourself.

When choosing your wedding guest style, colour is an important factor to consider. Bright, festive colours are always the go-to option one must choose for an Indian wedding. While most guests avoid wearing red, as it is the colour of the bride, the trend is changing these days. Brides are choosing to wear pastels and not the traditional red for their big day.

It's important to maintain one’s individuality even while dressing up as a guest at an Indian wedding. Gone are those days when one had to only wear complete traditional attire for Indian weddings. In fact, the existing trend is to recycle whatever you have in your wardrobe and transform them into stylish outfits.

Wedding guests, style yourself in these outfits

1. Kaftan dress

For the mehendi or the haldi function, you can opt for a kaftan dress. Designed as a kaftan from the top with flowy sleeves, these full-length dresses come in printed fabrics and solid colours. You can get one stitched or shop from a boutique. These dresses are breezy, easy to wear and will keep you comfortable through the event.

2. Tulle lehengas

If it's a wedding, a lehenga is guaranteed to be part of your wedding-season wardrobe. This season, tulle lehengas are all the fuss, so why not wear one? You can wear one with embellishments too, but the beauty of tulle lehengas are how lightweight they are. If you're tired of twirling in flowy lehengas, this one sits more like a skirt and almost always gives a coy look. This is also a great bridesmaid look, if you're looking for one.

3. Saree

For the sangeet, you can choose to opt for a classic Indo-western saree with a ruffled blouse. It looks chic, and glamorous, and is also comfortable to wear, as that’s how you want to be during sangeet performances.

For the wedding, you may choose to opt for a nice and heavy silk saree paired with a brocade blouse.  Alternatively, you may even opt for a simpler saree with a glamorous statement blouse that will accentuate the look and make heads turn.

4. Sharara set

A stylish sharara set is an option that can be opted for again, for the ehendi or haldi ceremony. However, it is also a popular choice for sangeet night because of how comfortable it actually is. You could opt for this as your Indian bridesmaid look, and we're sure you'll make heads turn.

5. Brocade jumpsuit

Jumpsuits are a common sight at weddings these days, especially bandhani and brocade jumpsuits. They give the perfect Indo-western vibe and are well-suited for fusion weddings. This is a perfect option for wedding guests than the bride.

6. Pant saree

A pant saree style is a nice twist to the classic saree. It makes saree draping hassle-free as it saves you from wearing an extra layer of petticoats and draping the saree as well. Pant sarees look super cool and stylish and are apt for a cocktail or sangeet night. In a pant saree style, you have to take a long dupatta and use that as the pallu of the saree.

7. Sheer capes

Capes will not go out of style for a very long time! Right from cropped and  asymmetrical shapes to sheer capes that are the new trend, this style is here to stay. Capes are to be layered above a dress and are best suited for a mehendi/haldi ceremony.

8. Shawl twist

Winter weddings are challenging. It’s because most of our wedding outfits are not suitable to provide warmth. So here is a way in which you can revamp your summer wedding outfit and transform its look by adding just one accessory - the iconic winter shawl. It makes for the perfect wedding guest style. All you have to do is to add a shawl to your lehenga by replacing any thin dupatta that it was originally paired with.
