5 Home Remedies to Replenish Dry And Frizzy Hair

Your hair loses moisture for many reasons. Lock it in with these natural hair masks.

Frequent hairstyling with blow-drying, chemical products and other methods can increase your hair’s need for moisture. These styling techniques may give you an instant makeover, but they tend to dry out and damage your hair. So, what can you do to restore your locks? Making extra efforts to moisturise your hair can help. However, it must be done correctly to avoid further damage.

Oiling your hair is one of the best and age-old natural hair care tips. Oiling your hair regularly can help protect it from the damage caused by styling tools and products. You can make it a habit to pre-condition your hair by massaging your scalp with homemade hair masks. So, if you’ve been worrying about how to keep your hair moisturised, here are some hair masks for you to try!

1. Banana and almond oil

The combination of banana and almond oil is the answer to how to seal moisture in curly hair. It’s well known that curly hair can be difficult to manage. Regular washing and blow-drying cause curls to lose moisture, resulting in dry and frizzy hair. So, using a banana and almond oil mask will help seal in the moisture.

Take one banana and a teaspoon of almond oil to prepare this hair mask. Mix the ingredients thoroughly to form a semi-liquid paste. Apply the mask to your scalp, massage it well and leave it in for thirty minutes before rinsing. Follow this routine once a week for the best results.

2. Shea butter

Shea butter is a fat extracted from the shea tree’s nuts. Since shea butter is high in fatty acids and antioxidants, it is one of the best deep moisturising treatments for skin and hair. However, keep in mind that shea butter should be used only in small amounts to nourish your hair. It is best for treating thick hair that has become dry or coarse due to a lack of moisture.

You can apply a hair mask made of shea butter and some essential oils like avocado or lavender.

3. Coconut oil and honey

Coconut oil is one of the greatest natural moisturisers for frizzy and damaged hair. Honey too is a fantastic hair moisturiser because of its emollient and humectant properties. Emollients offer lustre and smoothness to your hair, while humectant adds extra moisture by bonding with the water molecules in your hair.

To make this mask, you'll need 1/4 cup of coconut oil and two teaspoons of honey. Combine the ingredients and apply the mix to your hair. Leave it in for 40 minutes and then rinse with water. You can apply this mask twice a week to keep your hair hydrated.

4. Pumpkin seed oil and honey

Honey is known for its numerous benefits to the skin and hair. It is an excellent natural moisturiser, and when combined with pumpkin seed oil, it also helps reduce hair fall.

You'll need one tablespoon of pumpkin seed oil, two tablespoons of honey extract and one tablespoon of coconut oil to make this hair mask. Apply the mixture to wet hair and let it sit for 20 minutes before rinsing with a gentle cleanser. Apply the mask twice a week for the best results.

5. Raw eggs and olive oil

A hair mask made of raw eggs and olive oil is one of the best natural moisturisers to prevent dry and frizzy hair. Raw eggs contain fatty acids that moisturise the hair, while olive oil contains oleuropein which promotes hair growth.

Break open one raw egg and mix it with two tablespoons of olive oil to make this hair mask. Apply the mixture to your hair and scalp. Leave it for 30 to 60 minutes. After that, rinse your hair with a cleanser and then a conditioner. Apply the mask once a week for the best results.

A variety of factors can lead to dry hair. However, one of the most effective ways to prevent dry hair is to moisturise it. Hair, like the body, requires regular moisturising. Use natural hair moisturisers for your hair type and avoid chemical-based hair styling products for the best mane health.
