St Paul’s Cathedral

It is one of the most highly regarded churches in Kolkata  As the cathedral of the Anglican Diocese of Calcutta, St. Paul's stands tall in Kolkata. In addition to being the first cathedral outside of the United Kingdom and the largest cathedral in Kolkata, it is also believed to be the first Episcopal Church of Asia. You must see St. Paul's Cathedral while you are in the City of Joy since it looks just like Norwich Cathedral in England. The cathedral's design is 'Indo-Gothic,' a Gothic style that incorporates modern building components to suit the climatic conditions of India.

Location: It is a kilometre walk away from the Rabindra Sadan metro station. You can also get here via local cabs or buses.

Timings: There are two shifts when St. Paul's Cathedral is open: from 9 AM to 12 PM and from 3 PM to 6 PM. The hours of operation are 7:30 AM to 6 PM on Sundays, though.

The Church of Christ the King

Church of the Holy Nazareth Armenian, Kolkata

One of the oldest churches in Kolkata, the Armenian Church of the Holy Nazareth, dates back to 1724. This Armenian church has gone through a metamorphosis of change and appearances with time. This church was originally built by Agha Jakob Nazar to replace the original one that had been destroyed in a fire. St. Thomas

St. Thomas Church is best described as a tranquil haven of natural beauty. Classical colonial architecture is on full display in this Kolkata cathedral. Its massive tower serves to draw in sightseers as it displays the colonial style of building. The inside of this meticulously constructed temple is almost as breathtaking as the outside. The magnificent interior of the church is centred on a magnificent altar. The grandeur of the space is amplified by the high ceilings, expansive windows, and stunning wall paintings. Mother Teresa's remains were stored here for approximately one week in 1997 before her funeral, which further adds to the historical importance of this renowned Kolkata cathedral.
