Spot Idli

Spot Idli is a tasty twist to the regular idli. Chef Smit Sagar brings this recipe from Hyderabad to your kitchen.

Ingredients

  • For Spot Idli

    • 2 tbsp oil

    • 1 tsp mustard seeds

    • 10-12 curry leaves

    • 1/4 cup chopped oninon

    • 1 tbsp chopped capsicum

    • 1 tsp chopped green chilli

    • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder

    • pinch of red chilli powder

    • salt to taste

    • 3-5 tbsp idli batter

  • For Serving

    • coconut chutney

    • red chutney

  • For Garnish

    • idli podi

PREPARATION

    Heat oil in a pan and mustard seeds, curry leaves, onions, capsicum, green chilli, and tomatoes and saute for a few minutes.

    Now add garam masala powder, red chilli powder and salt and mix well.

    Next divide this mixture in the pan in 3-4 round portions, pour the idli batter on each portion, cover the pan and cook for 6-7 minutes from one side, the flip them and cook again for 6-7 minutes.

    Garnish with idli podi and serve hot with coconut chutney and red chutney.
