The month of February brings with it an array of interesting movies across categories. Love a good ol’ Bollywood comedy-drama? Don’t miss Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar’s Badhaai Do. Got romance on your mind? Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday and Siddhant Chaturvedi-starrer Gehraiyaan can be your must-watch. And if you’re yearning for a thriller or a crime drama, gear up to watch Taapsee Pannu and Tahir Raj Bhasin in Looop Lapeta, and Alia Bhatt in Gangubai Kathiawadi. And the list doesn’t end there! Director Akash Bhatia’s Looop Lapeta, starring Taapsee Pannu and Tahir Raj Bhasin in lead roles, is the official remake of the German sci-fi thriller Run Lola Run. The story revolves around Savi (played by Taapsee), a woman who tries to save her boyfriend Satya (played by Tahir). According to the trailer, Tahir’s character gets into business with the wrong kind of people to earn some money. He is supposed to deliver a bag of money, but he loses it and that puts his life at stake. Savi gets a chance to earn her partner’s freedom. Watch the film to know what happens next.

Taapsee’s second release this month is going to be Shabaash Mithu. Directed by Srijit Mukherji, this is a biographical sports drama based on the life of Indian cricketer Mithali Raj, the captain of our national women’s cricket team. Shabaash Mithu also stars actors Richard Bhakti Klein, Hani Yadav, and Asad Ali Palijo.

The protagonists of Badhaai Do, Suman (Bhumi Pednekar) and Shardul (Rajkummar Rao) are two happy individuals in their early 30s. Suman’s dating a girl and Shardul reveals he is interested in men. But since their parents won’t get off their back to get married, the duo decides to get married and live like roommates to ensure their freedom is intact. The twist comes when their family and relatives expect them to have a baby.

Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Dhairya Karwa bring to you a tale of unrequited love and unfulfilled dreams. Gehraiyaan showcases the complexities of romantic relationships in current times and touches upon topics like infidelity and commitment issues. Directed by Shakun Batra, this film also stars veteran actors Naseeruddin Shah and Rajat Kapur in pivotal roles.

Alia Bhatt’s much-awaited release—Gangubai Kathiawadi—will finally hit the theatres towards the end of this month. This biographical crime drama features the actor in the role of Gangubai, one of the most powerful madams of Mumbai’s red-light area Kamathipura. Set in the 1960s, Gangubai Kathiawadi traces the journey of Gangubai as the head of a brothel and a political leader of her area.
