Chef Manish Mehrotra & Restaurateur Rohit Khattar Finally Bring Indian Accent To Mumbai

It has finally happened! One of Asia's 50 Best restaurants, which has raised the bar with its inventive cooking, Indian Accent, helmed by award-winning chef, Manish Mehrotra, is all set to open in Mumbai later in 2022. The Delhi-based restaurant is run by EHV, part of Old World Hospitality company, which has signed an agreement with Reliance Industries Limited to bring the brand to Jio World Centre in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex.

Chef Manish Mehrotra, who created the Indian Accent menu and is now the culinary director of the brand has been at the heart of the restaurant's success. The first Indian Accent, in New Delhi, opened in 2009 and was considered way ahead of its time. Today Chef Mehrotra's Tasting Menu includes signature dishes such as Indian Accent kulfi sorbet that comes in a miniature pressure cooker, Sindhi dal pakwan and daulat ki chaat served on a bed of fake currency have not only helped change the perception of Indian food beyond greasy and rich gravies but brought in accolades for the country as well. Indian Accent, New Delhi has been rated as the best restaurant in India by Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants for seven consecutive years (from 2015 to 2021). Most recently, Indian Accent, New Delhi was ranked 22 by Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants for 2022.  

Chef Mehrotra and the food at Indian Accent are now globally synonymous with modern Indian cuisine. 

Indian Accent Mumbai will be the third outpost of the restaurant, after Delhi and New York, and will be led by chef Shantanu Mehrotra who has been executive chef of Indian Accent, New Delhi. Rijul Gulati shall be Head Chef and Varun Sharma, who leads the award-winning bar at EHV’s other restaurant, Comorin, shall head the bar programme. 

The announcement of the opening of Indian Accent Mumbai comes on the heels of EHV announcing the opening of EHV’s Koloman helmed by Chef Markus Glocker, in New York as well as a collaboration with Chef David Thompson for Thai restaurants in India. Restaurateur Rohit Khattar, Chairman EHV says, “For many years we have explored locations in Mumbai for Indian Accent and our search has ended at the spectacular Jio World Centre, the new epicentre of Mumbai.
