Every culture utilises bread in a different way, but we still can't get enough of it. Today's bread comes in an endless variety of flavours, allowing for the creation of a wide range of tasty foods. Cooking with bread is simple and quick; you can make everything from a nutritious breakfast to delectable appetisers and delectable desserts. Here are some simple and tasty bread recipes that you can try at home for you and your loved ones.

Bread omelette is one of the simplest and most popular breakfast dishes in India. Here's how to make chef Ajay Chopra's quick recipe, which is sure to make you drool.

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 slices of bread
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 chopped tomato
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander
  • In a bowl whisk 2 whole eggs, chopped onions, chopped tomatoes, green chillies, coriander, red chilli powder, and salt.
  • In a pan, add some ghee, and spread the egg mixture on the pan, let it cook on a slow flame.
  • Once the omelette cooks from both sides, serve it with buttered bread.
  • Alternatively, after pouring the egg mixture in the pan, place two slices of bread on it.
  • Once cooked, wrap the omelette around the bread.
  • Flip the omelette and cook on the other side. Your omelette is cooked with bread, and ready to serve

Bread pizza by Raksha

Bread pizza is a quick, easy, and delicious pizza alternative baked on a griddle, tawa, or pan. With veggie toppings, the bread base resembles a pizza base. Of course, bread pizza has a distinct flavour different from the original veg pizza. Here’s how you can make this bread recipe by Raksha. 

For instant pizza sauce:

  • ½ cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp chilli sauce
  • ½ tsp chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp mixed herbs
  • ½ tsp chilli flakes

For pizza: 

  • 8 slices bread (white or brown)
  • 4 slices processed cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese (grated)
  • Onion, as per taste 
  • Capsicum, as per taste 
  • Tomato, as per taste 
  • Sweet corn, as per taste 
  • Jalapenos, as per taste 
  • Olives, as per taste
  • Firstly, take a slice of bread and cut the sides. Flatten it with a rolling pin, and 
    keep aside.
  • Now take another bread slice and place a slice of processed cheese.
  • Top with 1 tbsp of mozzarella cheese to make it extra cheesy.
  • Cover with the flattened bread.
  • Now spread 2 tsp of the prepared pizza sauce. You can also use store-bought pizza sauce. 
  • Top with 1 tbsp mozzarella cheese, as well as onion, capsicum, tomato, sweet corn, jalapeno, and olives.
  • Top with 2 tbsp mozzarella cheese again. Sprinkle chilli flakes and mixed herbs.
  • Place the bread pizza on pan greased with butter.
  • Cover and cook for 5 minutes or until the cheese melts completely. Make sure the flame is really low and that the pan is thick-bottomed—you don’t want the bread to burn.
  • Finally, slice the pizza in half and enjoy cheese burst bread pizza.

Achari Bread Rolls by Chef Pankaj Bhadouria

Achari bread rolls are bound to be your favourite food after you try this delectable recipe by chef Pankaj Bhadouria. Here’s how you can make this yummy dish. 

  • 1 tsp mustard oil
  • 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp nigella seeds
  • 4-5 boiled & mashed potatoes
  • 1-2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 tbsp chopped green chillies
  • 1 tbsp chopped ginger
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp chaat masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • Water as required
  • 7-8 bread slices
  • Oil for frying
  • Tomato ketchup
  • Heat mustard oil in a pan, add fennel seeds, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, nigella seeds, and saute.
  • Switch off the gas. 
  • To a bowl of mashed potatoes, add the chopped coriander leaves, chopped green chillies, chopped ginger, red chilli powder, chaat masala, salt, garam masala powder, and mix it properly. Add the seasoned oil and mix again. 
  • In a large bowl, add water and dip the bread slices. Squeeze the water out of the slices.
  • Add the potato filling and seal the bread properly. Do the same with the rest of the bread slices.
  • Deep fry the bread rolls in hot oil until crisp.
  • Serve hot with tomato ketchup.

Shortbread by Chef Tejasvi Chandela

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup icing sugar
  • 2 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 lemon zest
  • poppy seeds as required
  • lemon whipped cream
  • lemon slices for garnish
  • mint leaves for garnish
  • Cream the icing sugar and butter in a bowl using an electric beater.
  • Add all-purpose flour, and lemon zest and knead the mixture into a dough.
  • Preheat the oven at 160 C for 30 minutes. Line a tart mould using butter and flour.
  • Spread the dough in the mould and prick it with a fork.
  • Sprinkle poppy seeds on it and bake it in the preheated oven at 160 C for 15-20 mins.
  • Garnish the shortbread with lemon whipped cream, lemon slices, mint leaves and serve.

  • 1 sweet corn
  • 1 cup maize flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • salt to taste
  • 3/4 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 lemon zest
  • 1/2 lemon juice
  • chilli jam
  • butter cubes
  • lemon slice for garnish
  • lemon juice
  • Char sweet corn on the gas burner.
  • In a bowl, mix maize flour, baking soda, baking powder, all-purpose flour.
  • Add buttermilk, eggs, melted butter and whisk.
  • Add charred corn kernels, lemon zest, lemon juice and mix well.
  • Transfer the mixture to a line bread mould.
  • Bake the bread in a preheated oven at 190 C for 20 mins.
  • Garnish the cornbread with chilli jam, butter cubes, lemon slices and lemon juice.

Baked bread lasagna by Hiral Jaiswal

This bread lasagna dish is a great way to satisfy your Italian food cravings quickly. That's not all! All you need are a few kitchen ingredients, and you're good to go. Here’s how you can make this recipe. 

  • Homemade or store-bought tomato sauce (200ml)
  • Homemade or store-bought cheese sauce
  • Bread slices (10 to 11)
  • Homemade white sauce (100ml)
  • Stir fried vegetables (200gm)
  • Grated cheese
  • Fresh coriander
  • Chill flakes 
  • Oregano
  • Salt
  • Oil or butter
  • Black pepper
  • Black olives or green olives
  • Take a mould or pan and grease it with butter.
  • Spread homemade tomato sauce, then white and cheese sauce.
  • Then add sauted vegetables as required.
  • Now apply a layer of bread on it.
  • Repeat this process two to three times.
  • Top it with cheese sauce, grated cheese, black or green olives, and coriander.
  • Sprinkle some chill flakes and oregano.
  • Bake it for 15 to 16 minutes at 180° in preheated oven.
  • Serve hot.

50-50 Sandwich Bread by Sonia Gupta

A delectable 50/50 bread that combines the best of both flours, All-Purpose and Whole Wheat flour. This 50/50 bread is a great option for those who want to make their bread healthier but can't get enough of the fluffiness of all-purpose bread.

  • 250 gm Whole Wheat Flour
  • 250 gm all-purpose Flour
  • 5 gm Instant Yeast
  • 5 gm Sugar
  • 5 gm Salt
  • 270 ml Water
  • 2 tbs olive oil
  • To activate yeast, dissolve it into lukewarm water with sugar. Let it rest until it froths. In a large mixing bowl, add flour, salt, and activated yeast solution. Start kneading the dough by adding water to it. Make a soft and little sticky dough.
  • Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Add oil to it and knead it for 8-10 minutes until dough becomes non-sticky. Place the dough into a greased bowl and cover it with cling wrap. Place the bowl into a warm and dry place until dough doubles in volume.
  • Once the dough is double in volume, take it out on kitchen counter. Punch it to release the air. After punching, roll the dough into a rectangular sheet and shape it into a tight log.
  • For this recipe, I have used Pullman loaf tin (10x4.5x4.5).
  • Grease the tin and its cover with butter. Place the dough log into the tin with seam side facing the bottom of the tin. Close the lid and let the dough rest for the second rise.
  • Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 200 °After 30 minutes of resting time, place the tin with closed lid into the preheated oven for 35 minutes.
  • After 35 minutes, take the tin out from the oven. Demould the bread. Let the bread rest on cooling rack for minimum 2 hours before slicing.

Dominos Style Garlic Bread by Krishan Kumar

Nothing beats fresh garlic bread. It's quick and easy to make, and it's a great snack to binge on. And now you can make your own.

For the dough: 

  • 1 Cup Maida
  • 1 Tsp Sugar
  • 1/4 Tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Tsp Baking powder
  • 1/2 Tsp pizza mix
  • 2 Tbsp Sour curd + 1 1/2 Tsp Oil
  • 1/4 Cup Milk lukewarm + 2-3 Tsp Water
  • Salt to taste

To make garlic butter: 

  • 3 Tbsp Salted butter 
  • 1/2 pizza mix 
  • 1 tsp crushed garlic

For topping: 

  • Some chopped fresh coriander 
  • 50 gm Mozzarella Cheese or pizza cheese 
  • Some boiled sweetcorn
  • 2-3 Cloves of thinly sliced garlic
  • Some chilli flakes
  • Mix all ingredients for dough and knead till soft. Cover and keep aside for 1 hour.
  • Mix ingredients for garlic butter and keep aside.
  • After an hour when the dough is ready, split into 2 parts and roll each like a paratha.
  • Brush some garlic butter towards the center. Grate 25 gms pizza cheese and top it with corn and coriander on one half of the rolled dough.
  • Rub the edges with water and seal them into half properly.
  • Brush with garlic butter again. cut the surface with a knife and bake at 180 degrees i a preheated oven for 20-25 mins till brown.
  • Repeat the same for the other dough. Serve hot with mayo or dip of your choice.

French Toast by Chef Rakesh Raghunathan

French toast is a traditional and well-loved breakfast dish around the world. Chef Rakesh Raghunathan shares his recipe step by step.

  • 5 bread slices
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg powder
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 2 tsp butter
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • In a large mixing bowl, add milk, eggs, sugar, cinnamon powder, nutmeg powder, and whisk.
  • Dip 2 bread slices in the egg mixture. Heat butter in a pan, and place the coated bread slices on the pan.
  • Fry on both sides until brown.
  • Dust powdered sugar and cinnamon powder on the sweet French Toast.
  • For a savoury French Toast, whisk milk, eggs, salt and black pepper in a mixing bowl.
  • Dip slices of bread in the egg mixture and place them on the pan.
  • Cook from both sides and transfer them to a plate. Serve it with baked butter beans, chopped onions and tomatoes.

Baker's Hat Baguette by Chef Tejasvi Chandela

Baker's Hat Baguette is a unique take on a French classic. Chef Tejasvi Chandela explains how to make this unusually shaped bread.

  • 1 tbsp dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cup lukewarm water
  • 1/2 tsp castor sugar
  • 3 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • salt to taste
  • Activate the yeast by mixing it with warm water and castor sugar.
  • Mix all-purpose flour, wheat flour, salt and activated yeast in a bowl.
  • Knead the mixture into a dough and ferment it for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  • Knock out the air from the dough and roll it using a rolling pin.
  • Cut the rolled dough in the shape of a baker's hat using a knife.
  • Place the dough hat on a lined baking tray and make the design of your choice using all-purpose flour and stencil.
  • Bake the baguette at 180 C for 25-30 minutes in a preheated oven.
