Actor and fitness evangelist, Milind Soman is currently convalescing post COVID-19 in Alibaug. But that hasn’t stopped him from sharing fitness tips and pep talks with his followers via his social media platforms. Soman has been regularly sharing updates about his recovery and emphasising about the importance of physical and mental health.

In a recent Instagram post, Soman  shared a video of him exercising in the wild with a watermelon. Advocating the importance of digital detox, Soman said in the post with the video, "Sunday is now designated as no phone day. 36 hours without any gadgets is refreshing and stress free."

The actor who tested positive for COVID-19 in March 2021, has now recovered and will soon be donating his plasma. "Feels like I have most completely recovered. Will be ready to donate plasma in another 10 days. Blood plasma from people who have recovered from COVID-19 can help save lives. Stay calm. Take care of yourselves. Do what you can," he had earlier said.

In another Instagram post, the 55-year-old Soman responded to the reason behind catching COVID-19, despite being so fit. He said, "Fitness and health, if good, will help you deal with the virus so that you are not sick, but can't stop you from getting infected. Anybody can get infected. Not everybody infected will get sick."

A tree lover and a running person, as described in his Instagram bio, as well as an international level swimmer, marathoner, model and actor has also spoken about the negative impact of stress on the body: "Stress is known to weaken the immune system, so try to stay away from things that stress you out unnecessarily. Along with stress management, a little bit of exercise and simple food go a long way to keep you healthy and your immune system strong. Even if you mix up your exercise with your food."

An advocate of health—both physical as well as mental—Soman strongly believes, "If you don't have health, nothing else matters very much. Health is seldom a question of time or money. Most of the infections and hospitalisations in the second wave are from high rises, not slums. To be healthy you need to be aware. And you need to make at least 10 per cent of the effort you put into your job or your social life."

He also recently urged people to meditate to take care of their mental health in a caption alongside a picture of himself as Joker, on his Instagram handle.

"Besides outward precaution like social distancing, hand washing and mask wearing, we must work internally for a healthier body and mind for a stronger immune system - so meditation, light full body exercise, simple home-cooked food and SLEEP ON TIME," he said in a tweet.

Soman, who is currently isolating himself in Alibaug, says that it is a much better place to stay right now. "Back to social distancing in the wild. Enough of cities for the moment! I've had my tryst with COVID, don't want a repeat. I know people who haven't stepped out of their houses in over a year, don't want that either. So, it's much better to live in the forest, enjoy the birdsong, and try to grow whatever food is possible. It may not be glamorous but never felt so much at home. Nature is amazing, you've got to respect that!"
