Indoor plants are an easy and effective way to spruce up your home decor as they have the ability to instantly make a space feel more attractive, brighter, and greener. Indoor plants can purify the air we breathe, promote a sense of happiness and well-being, and reconnect us with nature. While everybody enjoys a good indoor plant, not everyone has the ideal conditions in their homes to meet the air, light, and water requirements of the most popular indoor plants. However, here are a few plants that can grow without sunlight.

Nowadays, finding lucky bamboo is not difficult. These sculptural plants, which have eye-catching shapes, swirls, and braided stalks, are frequently seen in offices, businesses, homes, and on desks for good Feng shui. They also have a well-deserved reputation for being virtually unkillable. Lucky bamboo prefers a little sunlight but can thrive in nearly complete shade. Just make sure they are not kept in the draughty areas of your home. Keep them away from pets too as they contain harmful properties.

One of the most adaptable and simple-to-grow houseplants is the spider plant. It gets its name from its spider-like offshoots, known as spiderettes, that dangle down from the parent plant like spiders on a web. Spider plants can be grown as hanging or trailing plants in baskets or pots. They can survive in less-than-ideal light conditions, including artificial light, for a long time. Water the soil on a regular basis to keep them from drying out.

Golden pothos, which is one of the best low light indoor plants, can grow in conditions where few other plants can—such as very low light and with a near-complete lack of water. It is one of the most popular houseplants due to its appealing, long-lasting, and simple-to-grow nature. It also has vines with smooth, leathery, and heart-shaped leaves. Some cultivars have leaves with distinct marbling that alternate along rope-like green stems. To keep the vines from becoming tangled, loosen and dust them on a regular basis. Also, because this plant is toxic, so keep pets away from it.

Sansevieria species, snake plant, is amongst the best low-light indoor plants that you can cultivate. They have a striking appearance and require very little maintenance. A snake plant can live for decades. It prefers partial shade but can grow in complete shade as well. It should be noted that it is toxic to pets. Also, avoid overwatering it, especially if it is not in direct sunlight, which dries out the soil. Overwatering can lead to root rot and the death of the plant.

English ivy can spread as a ground cover outside, but when grown in hanging baskets as a low-light indoor plant, it creates a lovely trailing look. Place your English ivy in an area that gets indirect light. Spritz the plant with water to keep it moist, and if feasible, keep it in a cold room at night (ideally around 15 degrees celsius). Since because the plant can be harmful to pets, keep dogs away from it.

So, there you have it: five easy-to-grow low sunlight plants that can withstand a lot of neglect and thrive in very little light. Apart from the fact that caring for these plants isn't difficult, which is a plus for individuals who aren't naturally gifted with a green thumb, they also provide a soothing and relaxing environment.
