The British Fashion Council reverted to a physical annual fashion award show, British Fashion Awards 2021, after two years. The non-profit organisation hosts the glitzy event to celebrate excellence in the fashion industry and support the future pipeline of creative talent.

This year British Fashion Awards 2021 began with the tribute of the untimely demise of eminent fashion designer, Virgil Abloh after battling cancer for several years. Abloh was the artistic director of Louis Vuitton's menswear collection. Celebrities, influencers, and a bewildering number of brands paid tribute at the starry event. English actor Idris Elba, a friend of Abloh, gave a heartfelt speech honouring the designer and read a Maya Angelou poem ‘When Great Trees Fall’. A minute’s silence was also observed at the beginning of the show in memory of the talented designer.

This year’s British Fashion Awards was hosted by award-winning actor, singer, director, composer, and playwright Billy Porter. He made quite the fashion statement by opting to wear a black and white Richard Quinn gown and black platform-heeled boots.

The event honoured and awarded some of the eminent fashion houses and designers around the world that were voted on by British editors, stylists, buyers, and other members of the fashion press. The star-studded evening saw the fashion and entertainment industry’s leading names walk down the red carpet.

Here are our 10 best-dressed celebrities at British Fashion Awards 2021:

Dua Lipa turned heads wearing emerging designer Maximilian Davis’ creation and paved the way for understated elegance. The elegant black creole crepe gown with unique sleeve detailing set the right mood for minimal aesthetics.

Global icon Priyanka Chopra went for a head-to-toe in a signature Richard Quinn ensemble. In a vividly floral bodysuit that featured a plunging neckline, power shoulders and a long overcoat on her shoulder, the ensemble screamed maximal and whimsical styling at its best.

Supermodel Adriana Lima, in a white co-ord comprising a bejewelled crop top and matching skirt with a thigh-high slit, looked ravishing. The co-ord set featured silver embellishments that went in tone with her rose-gold stilettos. Her dark tresses were styled into a retro Hollywood-style do with a dramatic side parting. The addition of a slick red lip and dazzling jewels completed her star look.

American actress Demi Moore brought the glitz and glamour with her sparkling ombre cocktail dress from Fendi. The matching leather gloves were the highlight of the ensemble. Her sleek straight, mid-parted hair with the black pumps was a classic look that she carried with aplomb.

Tennis player and model Maria Sharapova combined high fashion and sustainability by donning a custom dress by couture designer Iris Van Herpen. The dress took a year in making because the fabric was sourced from hundreds of recycled Evian plastic bottles and organic silk. With this dress, Sharapova directed the dialogue on fashion’s future on the right path.

Model Iris Law with a warrior-like ensemble with the serpentine-themed sterling silver bralette, body chain, bracelet and necklace gathered plenty of eyeballs. She paired the racy accessory with a draped semi-sheer skirt with cut-out detailing and a corset top by designer Dilara Findikoglu. She strutted down on the red carpet out in brown leather thigh-high boots.

Model and activist, Sabrina Elba wore a customised designer David Koma gown. The jet black gown featured crystal embroidery in the shape of a lily across the bodice, the fitted silhouette with bustier detail and long matching gloves turned heads.

The backless blazer top with low-rise pants brought in together with a belt cinched on the waist and paired it with pointed black heels would send shivers down a boardroom. She styled her locks in a classic high bun, with her smokey-eyed makeup enhancing her look.

English model and activist, Munroe Bergdorf in green plissé pleats gown was a vision to behold on the British Fashion Awards red carpet. Wearing a custom designer Robert Wun creation, she certainly turned heads in the gown featuring an elaborate corset top and a pleated train.
