If you’re one of those women who prefer to keep it simple when it comes to makeup but are in the need to amp it up for a special event or an occasion, the soft glam makeup look is meant for you. You can draw inspiration for this look from celebrities such as Sara Ali Khan, Alia Bhatt and Janhvi Kapoor.

Jaipur-based professional makeup artist Meera Bhandari not only decodes what is soft glam look but also shares a step-by-step guide to achieving the perfect soft glam look. “Unlike a full glam look, soft glam makeup is a step up from natural makeup,” she explains. The main areas of focus in a soft glam look are a good dewy base, strong eyes and shaped brows.

Properly moisturised and hydrated skin is at the core of a soft glam look. “For a dewy base, a combination of moisturiser followed by an illuminator is the first step,” Bhandari says adding that the foundation will only be after the illuminator. Do not forget to use a concealer to reduce the discoloration or dark spots before the foundation. Make sure everything is blended well together for seamless soft coverage.

The next step in getting the perfect soft glam makeup look is to ensure your face is contoured and highlighted correctly. Use a contour stick on the edges of the forehead, cheekbones, chin and nose. At the same time use a highlighter on the forehead, top of your nose, undereye and cheeks. Add a little blush on the cheeks. Use a contour brush to blend all of it in to create a smooth finish.

Eyes are a crucial part of nailing soft glam makeup. “To keep the eyes glamorous, you need shades of browns and pink shimmer eyeshadows are easy to blend and go with any outfit,” shares Bhandari. Ensure you’ve filled in your eyebrows as they add a more sculpted and finished look to your makeup. Complete the whole look by curling your lashes and applying voluminous mascara.

For a pouty lip, stick to nude shades of lip colour. Use a darker shade of nude on the outer corners and edges and a lighter shade in the center. Blend the two shades in and top it with a lip gloss. “The gloss gives a supple and hydrated look,” adds Bhandari.
