The glass breastplate was a contemporary take on the Bhuta breastplates worn by Theyyam dancers in the Malabar region. The dance is more of a ritual than a mere art form, and there are close to 400 different Theyyams, with their own music, style, and choreography.
While the traditional breastplates are metal, Bhumi Pednekar’s latest outfit featured an inspired glass one, that she had worn with a white saree.
