Patwon Ki Haveli, a cluster of five gorgeous havelis meshed into one complex, was built by a man called Guman Chand Patwa in the early 1800s. It is a breathtakingly ornate historical monument, spread across five different floors. The intricacy that went into building the monument still makes visitors speechless. A smattering of elaborate windows and balconies on the outside of the haveli complex gives way to the grand hallways and premises of the Patwon ki Haveli. The Haveli is built in traditional Jaisalmer architecture using yellow sandstone. The majestic monument, complemented by its alluring wall paintings, mirror work, murals, latticework and so many other impressive techniques that went into its creation, is justifiably one of the most attractive places to see in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, especially with its spectacular views and remarkably history and culture.

The Jain Temples of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan have been built in and around the premises of the Jaisalmer fort. Comprising seven temples in total, every temple is a beautiful structure of worship. Built in the famous Dilwara style, every temple is a beautiful spectacle with magnificent carvings, historic significance and religious importance in the chapters of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan and are still important places of worship for Jain devotees. Of the seven temples, the Chandraprabhu, Parsvnath, Rishabhnath and Sambhavnath temples are the most stunning. Built in 1885 for the Prime Minister of Jaisalmer at the time, Mohata Nathmal, this grand Haveli was built by the Prime Minister’s brothers. A unique amalgamation of symmetry and irregularity at the same time, this interesting result came into being because the brothers started work on the Haveli simultaneously from opposite ends. Thus, Nathmal ki Haveli is an interesting as well as a marvellous historic monument. The architecture of the Haveli is typical of the detailed Jaisalmer style of architecture prevalent at the time. Therefore, you will find brilliant windows with elaborate carvings around them, latticework, courtyards and other beautiful elements all through the premises.

An approximately three-hundred years old beautiful Haveli, it is also famously called the ‘Jahaz Mahal’, for the likelihood between the part of the Haveli and the stern of a ship. Built on the foundations of a pre-existing Haveli from the 17th century, Salim Singh ki Haveli is a true architectural and cultural gem. The Haveli differs from other historical monuments in the fact that the building is supported by sturdy iron rods, as compared to the traditional cement pillars which were more prevalent at the time. Possessing a massive number of rooms, hallways, and courtyards, the most distinctive feature of the Haveli remains its impressive thirty-eight windows, jharokhas as they were traditionally called. The Haveli also houses a beautiful Moti Mahal, which was used to host dances and other entertainment for guests.

One of the largest national parks of its kind, the Desert National Park in Jaisalmer is home to several wildlife species.
