This is a good weekend to check how deep your pockets are as hotel room rates skyrocket in Mumbai because of the high-profile wedding at Bandra Kurla Complex.

Let's hope you don't have to make your way to Bandra Kulra Complex this weekend or check into a hotel anywhere in the vicinity, or in any of the luxury hotels in Mumbai for that matter. Word has it that room rates in most of the luxury hotels have touched the sky; INR 5 lakh for the presidential suite at Four Seasons, for instance.

Needless to say, BKC hotels itself have no rooms left. The wedding fever, which, as per industry insiders, is due to subside closer to the end of the month (The actual wedding celebrations are only till July 14 at World Jio Centre), has led to all the neighbouring hotels hiking up their rates to fairly impossible prices.

Sofitel Mumbai BKC had a tag of INR 66,400 (approx), Trident Nariman Point had it at INR 36,800 (approx) and ITC Grand Central quotes INR 25,300 (approx) for July 11. But wait, there's more. The Oberoi Mumbai's rates were at INR 63,100 (approx)!

According to a leading English news channel, hotels that would ideally have rooms for INR 13,000 have been asking for more than INR 90,000 per night for a room on July 14, and hotels such as JW Marriott and The Leela have been riding the wave with their rates going up by 25-30 per cent.

So if you want to soak in the Mumbai vibe anytime soon, hold on till August unless you're ready to shell out at least INR 27,000 for a room at Four seasons, INR 23,000-plus at JR Marriott Juhu and INR 21,000 for a room at Taj Lands End at Bandra, and these rates are applicable after the wedding weekend.

And in other news, this might just also be a WFH situation till July 15 for those who work in the BKC area because who wants to get stuck in traffic, not to mention the strict restrictions that will be in place during the weekend. After all, celebrities from the world are flying down for this mega soiree.
