The world seems to be getting back to normal as the red carpet is rolled out after a year’s hiatus at one of the most prestigious movie galas in the world at the Cannes International Film Festival 2021

The most glamorous film festival that has had the likes of Bollywood A-listers such as Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Kangana Ranaut and Sonam Kapoor making star-studded appearances in haute couture gowns year after year is now making way for digital and social media influencers too. Movies and fashion go hand-in-hand, no wonder red carpets at movie premiers, awards and festivals are considered as the pinnacle of fashion. Cannes Film Festival is no stranger to this celebration of style and substance.

The 2019 edition of Cannes International Film Festival saw the likes of social media influencers such as Kusha Kapila, Bhuvan Bam, Masoom Minawala and more walk the red carpet with elan. This year, at the 74th Cannes Film Festival, Indian social media influencers Masoom Minawala, Diipa Khosla and Nidhi Sunil made some showstopping appearances in the best of fashion ensembles at the Cannes red carpet. Here’s the best of their looks from the red carpet.

Masoom Minawala looks graceful in a Manish Malhotra shimmering saree for her first red carpet look at Cannes Film Festival 2021 complemented with some high jewellery from Boucheron. The long pallu with the long trail sleeves and the matching blouse delivered the quintessential Indian look right in the middle of global haute couture. To ensure the saree did all the show-stealing, Minawala’s makeup was minimal with only drama with graphic eyeliner.

Indian fashion-blogger, Diipa Khosla, who is now based in Amsterdam, walked her first red carpet at Cannes Film Festival 2021 in a designer lehenga by Falguni Shane Peacock. She paired the lehenga with an off-shoulder blouse and teamed it up with a matching maang tika and necklace from Falguni Shane Peacock.

Kerala born model Nidhi Sunil, who is the first Indian model to be the Global Ambassador for L’Oreal Paris, attended this year’s Cannes Film Festival opening gala in an ivory-coloured fringe dress by Rahul Mishra. She paired the statement dress with diamond and sapphire earrings by Fred Jewelry, Paris.

Radiating old-world glamour, Masoom Minawala shows off in a pink tulle dress with a halter neck and ruffled skirt. Sporting minimal jewellery and makeup, she makes a bold statement with a stand-out accessory emerald clutch from Aspinal of London, the British leather brand, with a pearl strap.

Fashion blogger, Diipa Khosla, made her first red carpet appearance at Cannes Film Festival in an off-shoulder couture gown by Tony Ward. Khosla paired the look with diamond hoops and nude makeup which allowed all the attention to go to the detailing on the skirt of the gown.

A new mother, Khosla took to Instagram, in a Studio NK yellow ruffled gown, with a photograph of her with a breast pump to talk about what motherhood meant to her. “There is no rule book to motherhood, it takes experience and learning to understand the ins and outs of what is appropriate for YOU as a mother and not anybody else. Being a new mom holds enough self-judgement as there is constant worry if your actions are right,” she wrote in her post.

Indian-born Farhana Bodi rocked the Cannes Film Festival red carpet in an elaborate yellow couture gown by UAE-based Atelier Zuhra. The tube top with an empire line had a clean-cut, but it was the skirt and the trail of the dress that stole the spotlight. Bodi teamed the gown with a diamond necklace and earring set by Pasquale Bruni.
