In traditional Indian weddings, brides usually wear red - the colour of auspicious beginnings, prosperity, and feminine power. However, trends have changed lately, and celeb brides like Mira Rajput, Anushka Sharma, and Alia Bhatt have established the culture of donning beautiful shades of pastels and ivory for their bridal outfits. While it's rather unusual to witness a Hindu bride in colours other than red, we can’t seem to get over how amazing and radiant they look in these unconventional bridal wear colours!

The recent wedding pictures of popular Pakistani actress Mahira Khan and our beloved Parineeti Chopra took the internet by storm. Once again, we saw these two beautiful celeb brides posing for love-filled pictures with their husbands in unconventional shades like ivory and white.

7 celebrity brides who wore unconventional colours on their wedding day

Varun Dhawan’s gorgeous wife and talented fashion designer Natasha Dalal chose gold to be the primary colour of her wedding lehenga. She went for a muted gold lehenga with intricate silver and gold embroidery work on it. Her beau Varun twinned with her and looked dashing in a muted gold sherwani with similar floral embroidery work. Natasha completed her outfit with a diamond necklace, emerald pendant, complementing earrings, and a mangtika.

Neha Dhupia got hitched to actor Angad Bedi in a private ceremony on May 10, 2018. The actress chose to shun the conventional red and opted for a stunning pale pink lehenga for her special day. Designed by Anita Dongre, Dupia’s lehenga had subtle yet detailed floral work in silver. Neha completed her look with an elegant sheer dupatta, and heavy gold jewellery, and tied her hair in a neat bun with white flowers around.

Singing sensation Neha Kakkar had her dream wedding with fellow playback singer Rohanpreet Singh on October 24, 2020. Like many stars before and after her, Neha ditched the traditional red and went for a pale pink lehenga by Sabyasachi for her special day. The shade of pink, and pastels in particular, were chosen by several celeb brides during this time, and Neha was one of these beautiful Bollywood brides who rocked in unconventional colours. Neha completed her look with a heavy neckpiece, matching earrings and mangtika, and traditional gold and red bangles.

We can unanimously agree that everything from location and decor to outfits and photographs of the grand Virushka wedding has set the bar so high that our expectation from Bollywood weddings has skyrocketed. Star cricketer Virat Kohli and the beautiful actress Anushka Sharma tied the nuptial knot on December 11, 2017, and we can’t stop marvelling at the sheer authenticity, grace, and love in their wedding pictures! Anushka was one of the first celeb brides and trendsetters in the series of brides wearing unconventional colours. She chose a pink pale Sabyasachi lehenga with grand Renaissance embroidery. Embellished with pearls, beads, and silver-gold metal thread, her bridal lehenga is the ideal inspiration for all those to-be brides looking for unique and eye-catching designs. Not only was Anushka’s lehenga a creative masterpiece, but her jewellery also played a huge role in elevating the appeal of her outfit. Handcrafted jewellery with syndicate uncut diamonds, baroque Japanese cultured, and pale pink spinel pearls from the house of Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry completed her outfit and stole our hearts with their sheer grandeur!

The recent Chopra-Chadha wedding became the talk of B-Town because Parineeti Chopra looked like a ravishing beauty in her gorgeous wedding lehenga in an unconventional shade of ecru-champagne. The renowned Manish Malhotra designed Parineeti’s wedding lehenga, which was laden with tone-on-tone embroidery and intricate pearl accent and took around 2,500 hours to make. Parineeti’s outfit and make-up were all about being minimal, but her bridal jewellery stood out in heavy jade and emerald stones, and we love how amazing the entire outfit looks in entirety!

The stunning Pakistani actress Mahira Khan recently married businessman Salim Karim, and the dreamy wedding is all we can think about! From the gorgeous outdoor venue and decor to the bride and groom’s phenomenal outfits, the wedding was simply elegant and flawless! Mahira wore a beautiful white lehenga for the outdoor ceremony, featuring a lehenga skirt, choli, dupatta, and a gorgeous long veil covering her head. Her full-sleeved blouse was uniquely designed with a wide square neckline, a plunging back, sequin embellishments, and a cropped scalloped hemline. Mahira’s lehenga skirt had a high-rise sequin embellished waist, intricate embroidered work, an A-line layered ghera, and a floor-length hem. She used two embroidered dupattas with sequin work to style the outfit - one acting as her veil and the other on her head with pleats on the shoulder.

Alia Bhatt married her long-term boyfriend and Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor on April 14, 2022. Unlike the other Bollywood brides of her time, Alia Bhatt chose to wear a saree instead of a lehenga on her wedding day. She picked a sophisticated ivory saree from the house of Sabyasachi and a matching half-sleeved blouse with it. Alia glowed in her hand-dyed ivory organza sari embroidered with an embroidered handwoven tissue veil. She complimented her look with uncut diamond and hand-strung pearl jewellery from Sabyasachi’s Heritage Collection 2022.
