At the 65th annual Grammy Awards, actor Viola Davis became the 18th person in history to win a competitive Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony, making it to the exclusive EGOT club.

Recently, she took home the Grammy for best audiobook, narration, and storytelling recording for her memoir, Finding Me. 

Davis’s journey to EGOT began with her Tony-award-winning performance as Tonya in August Wilson’s King Hedley II in 2001. She won her second Tony in 2010, and subsequently a best-supporting-actress Oscar in 2017.

In 2015, Davis became the first Black woman to win the Emmy for best actress in a drama series, Shonda Rhimes.


Davis is only the fourth Black person and third Black woman to achieve EGOT status, following Whoopi Goldberg, John Legend, and, most recently, Jennifer Hudson. 

“Finding Me,” Davis’s memoir that cinched her EGOT status, punctuates her lofty accomplishments as well as the racism, generational abuse, sexual assault and poverty she survived.


She also details the racism and incidents she experienced growing up in Rhode Island and within Hollywood.

Davis is no stranger to breaking down barriers.  And she is one of the very best to ever join the elite list of EGOT.

Here’s what you need to know about the Rani Mukerjee-starrer

Directed by Ashhima Chibber, 'Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway' is about an immigrant Indian mother who gets into a legal battle against the Norwegian foster care system to win back the custody of her children. 

Inspired by true events, the film’s trailer shows how immigrant Indian mother, Devika Chatterjee’s life is ripped apart when her kids are taken away by the Norwegian foster care system by labelling the Chatterjees to be unfit parents. 


Scheduled to hit the theatres on March 17, the film also stars Neena Gupta, Anirban Bhattacharya and Jim Sarbh, and the trailer has already garnered massive attention on Youtube, getting almost 14 million hits between Thursday and Friday evening. 

Jim Sarbh who did not go unnoticed at Amin Faizi in the film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, plays a pivotal role in the film as well. Anirban Bhattacharya, who plays Rani’s husband is a well known actor from the Bengali television and film industry.


The director of the film, Ashhima, is known more for her television ventures. Her first directorial debut was in 2013 with ‘Mere Dad Ki Maruti’. 


Rani is making an appearance on the big screen after a fair bit of time. Her last outing was in 2019 with “Bunty Aur Babli 2”.  Her performance in 'Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway', from whatever is apparent in the trailer, has already won her accolades.

A nine-episode saga about the culture, glamour, and gritty reality, it is said to focus on three generations of courtesans of Heera Mandi, Lahore’s red light district.

For the unversed, Heera Mandi is an actual place in Pakistan’s Lahore. It used to be a place where courtesans performed during the Mughal era.

Heera Mandi became a red light district that was around even during the British colonial era. In fact, the place is still seen as a red light area. 

However, Bhansali’s upcoming project is said to focus on the lives of women in Heera Mandi during the pre-Independence era.

The new teaser for 'Heeramandi' boasts of an impressive cast that includes Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal and Sanjeeda Shaikh.

Here's a bit of trivia, the sets for 'Heeramandi' is said to be made in the same spot as 'Gangubai Kathiawadi'.
